Colors of Diamonds
You may have thought that diamonds only come in clear, colorless and transparent,
but you will be surprised when we tell you that diamonds actually come in a wide
variety of colors. Some of these colors are pretty common and some are very rare.
You surely have seen the colorless diamonds which are very common; the next common
color are the yellow diamonds mined mostly from they come from South African nations.
There are also brown diamonds, if you can believe it, and are usually found in
Australia, Africa and Siberia.
Pink diamonds are rather rare and are mined from diamond mines in Brazil and Tanzania.
The blue diamond which is where the Blue Hope Diamond got its name from, are found in
Pretoria, South Africa. There is only one red diamond in the world and that is the Red
Shield Diamond weighing some 5.11 carats. Then you have the very rare and hardly seen
diamonds -- these colors are orange, purple, and olive, black and white. In very few
instances you will see white and maybe some black but the others are extremely rare.
The uncommon or rare colored diamonds are very exotic looking and very beautiful.
Those looking for colored diamonds may have to shop around a little and they do cost
a little extra their rarity. Can you image a beautiful blue diamond in a solitaire
cut ring? It would be beautiful. But one can only hope.
